It is recommended to backup your Pocket PC before you continue.
If not already done download your free evaluation copy
here.
Please deinstall previous copies of facelift before installing version 1.5.
Then run "POCKETfacelift_XXX.exe".
You will be asked to install "NOVOSEC Pocket facelift" using the default application install directory.
You have to select "Yes" for a correct installation.
In order to configure the pfaceLauncher select Start -> Settings -> Today
Select pfaceLauncher and click "Options".
Now you can select the applications which should appear in your Today Screen.
"center icons" will center the icons.
"use large icons" toggles between small and large icons.
A preview is displayed at the bottom.
Selecting "Start->Settings->Facelift" several settings can be adjusted. In the following it is described in detail.
When activating "Load on startup" POCKET facelift will be started automatically after
a soft reset. This option has to be handled with care, because it is possible that POCKET facelift will be
"frozen" under special circumstances (e.g. incompatible Today Plug-ins, Task bar enhancer) directly
after the start. In many cases only a deinstallation via Active Sync can help: Active Sync (Desktop PC), "Tools->Add/RemoveSoftware",
select "NOVOSECPocketfacelift" and press "Remove".
"Use different icon set" This option provides the opportunity to change the icon set used by facelift.

In the "Taskbar" tab you can enable the new skinned task bar. If you don't want this feature
(e.g. when using GigaBar or WisBar) you can disable it by unchecking "Enable skinned task bar".
You can use a private image for the background. In order to do this check "Use this picture as the background".
"Show date in taskbar" In addition to the time display in task bar it is possible to show the date.
"Show separator in Start button" By checking this option a seperator will be displayed right besides the start button.
"Use different button set" This option provides the opportunity to change the button set used by facelift.

In the "Menu/Menubar" tab you can enable the cascading start menu and the skinning of the "Menubar".
If your device is fast enough you can also check "Animate menus".
In the "Today" tab it is possible to enable the background image for the today screen by checking the option "Enable today background".
"Scroll today background" This option is for slower devices and enables a faster scrolling of the today background.
(Note: The background watermark image will be moved as well which can result in an inappropriate bottom after scrolling.)
If you want to choose another theme you can select it from the list.
You can use a private image for the background. In order to do this check "Use this picture as the background".
In order to change font styles, color and shadows you have to select the "Fonts/Colors" tab.
The default values (taken from the current theme) can be overridden by checking the appropriate option.
After checking an "Override" option you can change the appeareance by clicking on the button besides.
The upcoming dialog will be described in detail below.
A preview is displayed at the bottom.
This dialog will be shown after you have clicked on one of the buttons in "Fonts/Colors" settings tab.
In the upper part of the dialog you can choose the color. You can switch between the foreground and shadow color
(when "Shadow" is checked) by clicking on the left or right part of the color preview (right besides
the font face drop down list).
All installed fonts can be selected in the font face drop down list. In order to install more fonts you can copy
any *.ttf to the "\windows" folder of your Pocket PC.
The font size can be modified by clicking on the "+" or "-" button. The style is changed via the three checkboxes
"Bold", "Italic" and "Shadow".
A preview is displayed at the bottom.
Information on the version number and the Build ID are shown by the "About" tab.
To remove POCKET facelift from your device select Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
select "NOVOSEC POCKETfacelift"
and click on "Remove".
As alternative you can use Active Sync to remove it.
